-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let’s
face it. Stuff happens. I mean not just in your life. Duh!
Call it coincidence, call it life.
However you term it, it’s a cycle.
And as long as you’re clinging on to life on earth, you’re not
exempted. A scan through newspaper
headlines proves it, and I mean its daily, hunny.
“Kids
were sexually abused…..”
“A
wife and her three teenage daughters drowned….”
“Drive
by shooting, casualties found….”
We
read those headlines and feel a stab of pain for those involved. But most
times, we are too busy juggling with our own pain to linger on negative news
stories. We’re trying to figure out how to support our families financially
when things around look so bleak. Some
of us are grieving the loss of a loved one and at the same time trying to
comfort a friend who is battling with cancer.
We exert our human capability to learn how to love a rebellious child and
still struggle to hold a fractured marriage together.
In
between sobs and tears sometimes we fight the confrontation of our mind
hollering out back at us: Is God really
out there somewhere? If He is, then is He aware of what’s happening down here?
If He’s aware, does He care?
It
may sound totally flat but the truth is, God cares. I came across this verse that really speaks volume
to the situation that I’m going through now.
Psalm 116:2 (NLT) “Because the Lord bends down to listen, I
will pray as long as I have breath” That’s
right. Read it again and let it sink
into you. Take a few moments and allow your imagination to ascend into the
reality of that. Picture the God of heaven stooping down to listen to your
cries for help. Imagine Him saying “Shush” to all the noise and clamour
demanding His attention from every corner of the globe as He leans down, fully
intent on hearing your words. Imagine Him focusing solely on you and taking
concern on the cares that weigh you down today. The Lord of heaven and earth bends
down to listen to your prayers and mine.
What an amazing thought.
And
with that, come what may. Mountains and
tsunamis on path, serpents and scorpions on track, with the confidence that He
cares enough to listen, I know my tomorrow will come through like the shinning
sun. And while I’m on it, I can be reassured,
again that Mark9:23 all things are possible for me, because I
believe. Watch out world, child of God
coming through!
